The Classics — Nails and Screws

Nails and screws are responsible for the vast majority of punctures we deal with. Roofing screws are a particular favourite of local roads. They're long, sharp, and drop from trucks and utes near building sites in enormous numbers.

The AWD Spike Trap: If you drive an AWD vehicle and police stingers hit, replacing only the damaged tyres leaves mismatched tread depths. The rotational speed difference forces the drivetrain to work against itself, damaging the transfer case, differentials and driveshafts over time. This damage won't appear immediately, but the eventual repair bill can be enormous. For AWD vehicles, the safest course is to replace all four tyres and document all four in your police claim.
